Happy new year 2012 everyone !!

Have a beautiful 2012 year ! I wish you all the best for your projects and the good news !

If you read this message, that means that you understand my (poor) english… Sorry about that. This time i’ll try to write something in that language, just once don’t worry, using simple words, because i’m still not fluent unfortunatly… And by the way, it’s a good way to get better in the language : the more i will make effort to speak, write or read, the better i will be at english. And that’s what i would like to : speak with anybody at anytime without being tired of listening to english conversations and try to figure out what this slang word means… Because yes, it’s very difficult to understand people at the end of the day, when you’ve heard english during all day. Sometimes you just want to stop to understand, and go to bed, and speak a bit of french.
Ok, I would like to make a list of all things i don’t pay anymore attention in the streets of Perth area because i see them all day :
  • The palm trees,
  • The ocean, with nice beachs,
  • The huge 4WDs, warmed colored powerfull cars and geek’s uts in the streets,
  • Driving on the left instead of right like in France,
  • Houses are huge, single story ones, with gardens, sometimes with nice dogs,
  • Sand everywhere, instead of red dirt,
  • Tatoos everywhere on some bodies,
  • Tropical fruits like mangos, kiwis, bananas, passion fruit, etc, (YUM !)
  • Gardens mowed always properly, very shortly, like a golf green,
  • And all the other stuffs i don’t pay attention at all !!!

And here are the things i really pay too much attention, and i shouldn’t :
  • People who drink too much alcohol, and don’t even know why they do… such a shame !
  • Red and white australian wines difficult to understand and to appreciate,
  • Share a meal, with different manners,
  • The price of food, and drinks, so expensive in Perth, especially for this quality,! But i have to admit that the Wild Fig is a very good place, in Scarborough...
  • The hug (or nothing…) instead of the « bise ».

A customer : « A bottle of champagne, please ! »
Me : « You mean a real champagne or just a sparkling ? »
The customer : « huuu, yeah a champagne or a sparkling is the same »
Me (in my head) : « ARRRRRRGL !!! ils sont dingues dans ce pays !!! » When i think that even a French Vouvray is so much better than their best sparkling. And it’s even funnier when people knows what i think about the Vouvray, huhu…

As you can see, wines and food are the main difficult things to get into here (and the english language as well). Some people would ask me « and what about the cheese ? » i would answer them that we can find some good ones here, of course they are expensive but even in France they are, so it doesn’t make such a difference.  The only thing is we don’t find many different kinds of them, but the strong and salty sheddar is really good, isn’t it Jean-Gab ?

Next week, i’m gonna meet Novac and Roger at Melbourne, i will let them know that you tell them hi ;)

  1. Wine and cheese are some of the things you left in France, to get you happy when you'll come back ;D
